ASHLEY LYNN GRAY SENTENCED IN U.S. DISTRICT COURT Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that during a federal court session in Helena, on March 6, 2007, before Senior U.S. District Judge Charles C. Lovell, ASHLEY LYNN GRAY, a 22-year-old resident of Hays, appeared for sentencing. GRAY was sentenced to a term of: Prison: 11 years Special Assessment: $200 Supervised Release: 5 years GRAY was sentenced after having been found guilty during a 3-day trial of voluntary manslaughter and use of a firearm during a crime of violence. Because there is no parole in the federal system, the "truth in sentencing" guidelines mandate that GRAY will likely serve all of the time imposed by the court. In the federal system, GRAY does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for "good behavior." However, this reduction will not exceed 15% of the overall sentence. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna S. Peckham prosecuted the case for the United States. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
