POCATELLO RESIDENT SENTENCED TO TEN YEARS FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Former Pocatello resident Bobby V. Moon, 39, was sentenced this morning to ten years in federal prison for possessing child pornography, U.S. Attorney Tom Moss announced. This sentence will follow the three to 14 year prison sentence Moon is currently serving for lewd conduct with a minor from a state court conviction.

Moss said the sentence was appropriate. “These were the worst kind of pornography,” he said. “These were horrific pictures of real children being abused.”

Moon was also ordered to serve 25 years of supervised release when his federal sentence is completed. During his supervised release, Moon will be required to receive sex offender treatment, take polygraphs and other tests, submit to searches and register as a sex offender. He will not be allowed to visit places frequented by children or use the Internet, except as required for his work. Moon was also ordered to forfeit his computer equipment.

Moss commended the Pocatello Police Department for their thorough investigation and thanked the FBI Innocent Images Unit at the Pocatello Information Technology Center for their cooperation and assistance.
