Eight Busted in Methamphetamine Production Ring
U.S. Attorney Tom Moss announced the arrest of eight people in the Kaimiah-Kooskia area on March 5, 2009, after a long-term investigation into the manufacturing of methamphetamine. The FBI, Idaho State Police, Idaho County Sheriff's Office, Clearwater County Sheriff's Office, and the Nez Perce Tribal Police assisted in the arrests in Idaho County, Clearwater County, and Nez Perce County.
The investigation was initiated by the Idaho County Sheriff's Office. As the case progressed, the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office requested that the FBI and Idaho State Police assist in the investigation. A federal grand jury indicted the eight suspects in federal court on February 18, 2009, in Coeur d’Alene.
Though the arrests were made in and around the Nez Perce Indian Reservation, none of the suspects arrested were tribal members. The case is still under investigation.
Arraignment is set in Coeur d’Alene on Monday, March 9, before Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge Candy W. Dale.
