Ricco Lee Brown Pleads Guilty in U.S. Federal Court

Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that during a federal court session in Billings on August 25, 2009, before Chief U.S. District Judge Richard F. Cebull, RICCO LEE BROWN, age 20, pled guilty to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute or distribute cocaine. Sentencing is set for November 24, 2009. He is currently detained.

In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney James E. Seykora, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:

In 2008, BROWN was involved in a conspiracy with other individuals to possess with the intent to distribute over 500 grams of cocaine.

BROWN faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of 5 years in prison and could be sentenced to 40 years, a $2,000,000 fine and at least 4 years supervised release.

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the City-County Special Investigation Unit in Billings.
