Patrick Lee Big Lake Found Guilty in U.S. Federal Court

Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that on August 31, 2009, in Billings, after a one-day federal district court trial before Senior U.S. District Judge Jack D. Shanstrom, PATRICK LEE BIG LAKE, a 32-year-old resident of Wyoming, was found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse. Sentencing is set for November 2, 2009. He is currently detained.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lori Harper Suek prosecuted the case for the United States.

BIG LAKE faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of 30 years in prison and could be sentenced to life, a $250,000 fine, and lifetime supervision.

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
