FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitive Jorge Alberto Lopez-Orozco Arrested in Mexico

Special Agent in Charge of the Salt Lake City Field Office, Timothy J. Fuhrman, announces the FBI has officially confirmed the identity of Ten Most Wanted Fugitive Jorge Alberto Lopez-Orozco. Lopez-Orozco was arrested on October 7, 2009 in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Since his arrest Wednesday, the FBI has worked closely with authorities in Mexico to positively identify Lopez-Orozco, who is wanted for the 2002 murders of his girlfriend, Rebecca Ramirez and her two young children. The victims were shot and their bodies were later discovered in a burned out vehicle near the Snake River in Idaho.

The FBI Legal Attaché in Mexico worked with authorities in Mexico to positively identify the suspect in custody as Lopez-Orozco. The FBI used fingerprint technology to confirm his identity.

From here, local prosecutors in Elmore County, Idaho along with the U.S. Department of Justice and authorities in Mexico will work together on extradition proceedings.

As of today, 491 fugitives have been on the "Ten Most Wanted Fugitives" list. Jorge Alberto Lopez-Orozco is the 463rd person on the list to be located, 152 of them were found as a direct result of citizen cooperation. Lopez-Orozco was placed on the “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list on March 17, 2005.
