The FBI's principal police training course is the FBI National Academy Program, which is an intensive 11-week course given to seasoned law enforcement officers and management who are nominated by their agency heads. The program emphasizes leadership development. Its academic courses are accredited by the University of Virginia. Courses offered include forensic science, law, behavioral science, and health/fitness. All formal training in this respect takes place at the FBI Academy, located on the US Marine Corps Base at Quantico, Virginia. This facility provides dormitories, study and classroom space, libraries, eating facilities, and a host of training areas, including a mock city named Hogan's Alley. Because the FBI Academy is a secured facility, it is not open for public tours. |
